I was going to post more cards, but I'll get to that again next week. Because here's what we did today:
We made a little impromptu fort/sun tent in the front yard!
It was so beautiful outside today and the Little Dude is really happiest (and easiest) when we are outside. But the New Baby needs to be fed, and still feeds best when laying down (because of residual reflux, my quick letdown, learned preference, who knows?) so we got all set up in the yard on his new quilt, but then realized it was way to sunny for him. He was all squinty and could not relax and I don't blame him. I wouldn't want to be out there without my sunglasses, and neither does the Little Dude. But they don't make baby sunglasses, so we had to improvise.
Four kitchen chairs and a fitted sheet later, and we were good to go. It was very cozy and fun in there. But a little low ceilinged. We needed a pole in the middle.
Ah, that's better! (Also, could there be any more pattern in these pictures. It looks like the baby gets dressed in the dark.)
He really enjoyed being the tent pole. Of course, he also enjoyed throwing his toys and cars on top of the tent, which was not quite as helpful as when he was being the tent pole.
And aren't you proud of me! Look at us using the heck out of that quilt. I vowed that I'd really use this one, and let the puke and drool fall where they may and just throw it in the washing machine all laissez-faire like. So I thought bringing it outside would be a good way to break it in. Though I did put a picnic table cloth under it, just to keep it from any really bad dirt. Then of course, the very next thing that happened was the Little Dude ran right out of the garden and all over it with his shoes on. His muddy shoes. I couldn't restrain myself and said "Oh, son of a...!" But stopped short and did not add the offending noun. Which was a good thing because L.D. thought is was HILARIOUS, and spent the next fifteen minutes running up the the edge of the quilt with his muddy shoes, stopping just short and yelling "OH SONNAVAH!" very funny.
Oh, and this is what it looks like when a toddler both picks and arranges the flowers. Awesome.
I adore the bouquet. And for your sake, glad you stopped at sonovah -- who knew he'd also delight in making that sound!? Love ya!
