:) for Simon, it's chasing squirrels in the park. There are a ton in Parc Laurier, and he'll just go for a hour if you let him. Yay for crazy fish boy!

I adored every bit of this post and savoured all the pictures. Your youngest is so precious and the eldest -- I can just about SEE and FEEL his energy. Glad you had such a grand beach experience! And I completely understand the reticence of packing for the beach. It does get easier. And I'm reminded that last summer we last minute went to the Big Lake. We got there and unpacked and found: no beach toys, no sunscreen, no hats, no sand toys, no beach blanket (for the wee one) and precious few snacks. And ... they all had a BLAST. The girls learned to jump waves and the little guy amused himself with one plastic spoon and one container we emptied, and stayed in the shade of our stroller as much as possible. Their skin also isn't as susceptible to sunrays as some others so we made it work. It was a good lesson. And we went to a drivethru for lunch and got home in time for naptime. It was great. We haven't been yet this year, but that's mostly cuz I can't sit in a car that long yet (still healing). Enjoy the end of summer!

Oh, cool! You guys got to see a rainbow over at the beach! The kids look like they had a lot of fun over there. You really have to set a day during the summer for this kind of fun trip. Doesn't it feel great when you see your kids having all that fun?
