The baby has finally cut tooth number eight. Now he has four on the top and four on the bottom and its all symmetrical. Well almost symmetrical. He just cut it of course, so its barely visible. But I realized that what this means is that he will loose this cute off-centerdness that he's had for the last little while, where he makes this one particular face in which he juts his jaw over to the left side and since he has three teeth on the bottom, it makes him look particularly and endearingly lopsided in the dental department. So, so cute. But today I realized that I'm not going to see that off centered little grimace for much longer, so I'd better get a picture of it today.
Ahem. What I have to show you, is definitely NOT a picture of his off-centered teeth. It was almost as though he knew what I was trying to take a picture of and he pretty much avoided me, buttoned up his lips and did his best not to smile the whole time I followed him around with the camera.
Or he'd smile a bit, but not enough to expose his teeth.
Or he'd put his hands in front of his mouth.
This is the closest I got to getting a good picture of his open mouth and therefore, seeing his teeth. Don't worry, he was fine. He just wanted to grab my camera, and I wouldn't let him. And therefore the disappointed cry of woe. I'm telling you, this baby has the saddest cry in the world. And as a side note, I think every parent should take pictures of their kid's 'cry face' as well as all the happy faces and smiles that are documented every day. Its funny how even this sad face of his makes me go "awwww, he's so cute".
His brother came over to comfort him, in his time of distress, and I thought "what a sweet moment, I've got to get a picture." But it was literally a moment, and this is all I got. Fastest hug in the west. And then his little brother gets tossed aside, as if to say, "ok, you're fine, moving on!"
The Little Dude was much occupied with his own interests, namely all thing Thomas the Tank Engine related. I'd made the mistake of showing him this picture that I found on Pintrest, of some kid's lovely T. the T.E. collection arranged by colour, and sorely regretted it as he wanted to see the image over and over again and wanted to know the names of all of the trains and wanted to make plans to buy all of them. Finally I dug up this old cutlery drawer organizer so he could make up his own display shelf of Thomas Trains. He calls it his 'lovely display' as in "come and see my lovely display of engines! Which one do you want to buy?" And then we play a modified version of store in which he tells you which one you are allowed to buy and which ones you are not (most of them) then sometimes pretends to give you money for it. We haven't quite grasped the concepts behind consumerism yet.
Anyhow, back to the Baby and his teeth. My final strategy was to put sunglasses on him because sunglasses always make him bus a huge grin. However, he always rips them off right away, (smiling all the while) so Hubs had to hold his hands in order to get a picture that was not a blur. And we almost got the lopsided grin. Maybe we'll have to try again tomorrow.
Awww, your baby is so cute, especially when he smiles without showing so much of his teeth! His shots will be more beautiful if he can finally flaunt his growing teeth. I'm sure he'll be able to do that someday, when he grows older. =)
