I'm working on a new quilt project, which is always fun. I'm not sure what part I like best about quilting, but I do love the planning. Also, it should be obvious to anyone who has seen a few of my quilts that I like 'fussy cutting', that is, cutting out shapes that frame or incorporate the motifs of the original fabric. I am indeed all about motif placement. I almost never batch cut in a random way when working with a print (though when I do I am always amazed by how fast it is!) Also, you may have noticed that I have a thing for vintage Star Wars bed sheet fabric. So this new quilt combines both of those interests quite nicely.
Yeah, how fun is that?
It is destined to be a wall hanging sized quilt, and as you can see in a few places in the above photo, there will be colourful triangles joining all the hexes together.
I can't wait to start sewing. But before that can happen I have to cut out a million little colourful triangles. And by 'a million', I mean 126.
Right, I'm off to do some cutting.
EEEEEEEEEeeeeeeee!!!!

I saw the first pic and thought "is that for real? or a photo through a multi-lens thingy?" (the word escapes me and that's annoying) In any case, I'm gobsmacked that it's real and at your creativity, patience, and talent. I can't wait to see the end product. ENJOY!!

Kaleidoscope. That's the word you are going for. I totally know what you meant.
