Blog reality is a funny thing. What I mean by that, is that a blog is a construct, and not a reality itself. This blog is a representation of aspects of my life, but it is not a representation of my entire life. So sometimes, the reality of my blog does not match the reality of my life. For example, I often take a whole lot of photos and have a whole bunch of exciting post-worthy things happen on one day, but then I stretch then out over two or three days on my blog. Because there are days when I just have a boring, clean the-house, make-some-phone-calls, sit-by-the-potty-and-read-story-books kind of day. And then I use some of the stories and pictures that I've saved up from another day for my blog post.
The reason I'm going into all this is that today was one of those ho-hum days. I cleaned the bathrooms, organized my sewing corner, read the book Trainstop about thirty times, and went to the dentist for a filling. Not exactly interesting. Oh, and also, it rained on and off all day. Which was good for the grass, but not good for me and the Baby as we did not get to hang out our laundry or play outside. boooo. But I do have pictures that I want to post, of a lovely walk we took earlier in the week when it was beautiful and sunny, and I know that some of my readers live in the same area as I do (hi mom) and I did not want to pretend that the photos I'm posting happened today.
So there it is. And here they are.
I keep trying to take a really good picture of a dandelion fluff. I'm not quite there yet.
Our forest is really starting to bloom these days (all that rain I'm sure). These are trilliums, which is Ontario's provincial flower, which means they are protected so you can't pick them. Which makes them feel extra special.
I remember when I was little that I thought that there were some kind of special Provicial Flower Police lurking around in the underbrush who would swoop down and arrest you if you picked one.
And these are May Apples. I've always loved them because they remind me of a mini palm trees. I always feel like a giant when I stand over them, and I remember taking my little miniature teddy bears and setting them up underneath these and taking pictures of them with my first little camera. These actually grow a little apple-like fruit, and I have big plans this year to make jam with them. May Apple Jam. Doesn't that sound awesome? I have no idea what they taste like. I hope its not a crashing disappointment.
And as most of our walks do, it ended on the swing.
How exciting and neat to see the woods that are so dear to me though your eyes----and to realize that the things we shared with you throughout your childhhod really did have an impact. That should give all of you young Moms out there the assurance that time spent with your children leaves lasting memories, and is always TIME WELL SPENT!! Walked through the woods last night, and my heart still aches at having to move. sigh!

Hee hee...I remember being VERY AFRAID one time I picked a lady's slipper. I think there was a special Nova Scotia law against it

Yep, there are laws in each province I believe. I'm oddly impressed that despite your fear you were a renegade and picked one. Did you do something special with it, or throw it away out of guilt and terror? ( I would probably have done the later)
