Today is an achy pregnant day. It doesn't help that I had to work today. I do a little part time retail, and even though they are very nice to me there, and the job is not strictly speaking, strenuous, it is still hard to stand for five hours in a row when you are pregnant. There's a 15 minute break in there, about half way through, which I really look forward too, but sometimes my back feels even worse when its over and I go back to work.
Anyhow, don't alarm yourselves, its just my back. Mostly my lower back. Ok, its my butt. My butt hurts. Both the chiropractor and massage therapist (neither of whom I see often enough apparently) tell me its my Piriformis muscle. Its nice to have a name for it, but it doesn't change the fact that it hurts. I'm told its the added weight of the baby in your uterus pulling your pelvis forward that makes it ache. I'll tell you what, its not pleasant.
Also, my shoulders hurt. What my massage therapist calls the Mother's Helper muscle. I don't know the real name for it, but its what comes from man handling a toddler throughout the day. He's quite self sufficient really, and I have a 'no carrying up the stairs' policy that I started when I found out I was pregnant. But still there are numerous times when he's got to be helped on or off the potty, or into or out of the car seat/high chair. Or helped in and out of the bath. Or laid down for a diaper change. Or redirected. Or re-routed. There's just a lot of handling that involves me crouching or bending whilst simultaneously lifting. I'm telling you, the car seat is the bane of my existence these days. I try not to leave the house with L.D. in tow just because getting him in and out of the car seat sucks so bad.
Anyhow, its 11:00 at night and I'm tired and achy and just can never seem to get enough done. So I'm headed off to bed with a heat pack for my aching shoulder. But thanks for listening to me complain. Really, it helps.
ps: The Little Dude used the word "awesome" today. I was eating my oatmeal while he played with his little town, and he wanted me to come and play so he said. "Mama put dat oatmeal ova dere, and come play wif little baby wif me. Dat be awesome."
Yes, indeed it would.
Reading Kees' quote just made my night. Thanks.
Also, I'm very sorry you're so achy... not even the best Teaopia chair could take that pain away. Do baths help at all?

Thanks Teigan and Single Mom! Teigan, baths totally help. I have one almost every night, but they kind of only work while I am in them. Now if only I could find and electrocution free way to take my computer in the bath...
And Single Mom, I'm so glad you are here reading. Drop by any time. I'll be thinking of you reading when I'm posting :)
