Did the second (and last) craft show of the season today. And I kind of wish I was doing more. I waaaaaay over prepared for them, and I have lots of stuff left to sell. I'm going to have to set up an online store soon; I'll keep you posted on that.
Here's a picture of today's booth:
Same amount of table space as the last one, but no wall behind us this time. Oh wall, how we did miss you!
But smart hubs helped me jig up a little bit of a line anyhow, thanks to a broomstick and some tape (he's all high-tech like that) which worked just fine.
Its interesting to be involved in these kind of little shows. They two experiences were very different, despite being in the same building, just different rooms and times. Today's show was not as busy as this past Thursdays. I only sold about half the stuff that I did last time. And who can say why? Less traffic obviously, but why that would be, who knows? I've worked in retail long enough to know that you can plan and prepare and make all the predictions about date and time and day of the week and weather that you possibly can, but you still can't control or even predict how many people will come and buy stuff. Anyhow, the atmosphere was very nice, which is one of the things I like about these shows. Its so nice to meet all the other vendors, and the people who came and bought stuff were generally, speaking, very lovely.
Also, you can never predict what will really sell. I thought for sure the blankets (pictured above) would go quickly, as they are so substantial and reasonably priced, but then, what I really sold the most of was the bibs. And Rainbow Brite bibs, Charlie Brown bibs and My Little Pony bibs were all a lot more popular than I thought they would be. They're all made out of vintage kids textiles, and I just didn't anticipate the nostalgic warmth that Rainbow Brite would inspire in people.
Anyhow, all in all its been a fun and positive experience. And as an added side bonus of the slowish day today, Hubs and I kind of had an afternoon long date. Its not often that the two of us get to just hang out and talk, but I'd forgotten my knitting, and he did not have any design magazines to pour over, so once we were all set up we ended up talking to each other. Very organic and not rushed. Just two people sitting next to each other, mutually wool-gathering. All the little random thoughts sort of trickled out and mixed together. We joked, we laughed, we complained, we dreamed. There was a little of everything. And it was really, really nice.
oooo, i've been admiring your bibs and wanting to make some similar - but maybe i should just buy them from you!!! your shows look fantastic!

Lovely. And adore the fact that you and Hubs had a chance to sit together in a way that is often rare. Your pieces are very sweet! Glad to hear that you did have buyers, too.
