Today I'm feeling like I just need to do a good old fasioned 'look at the kids being cute' mommy-blog post. Because I don't want GranGran and Oma to go into withdrawal. So with that in mind, I pulled out the camera this afternoon, post nap, and took a few pictures.
This was the only good picture I got of the Little Dude. I'm telling you, that kid had a day today! I'm not sure exactly what had gotten into him, but he was pretty much constantly in motion, from at least noon on. And most of the motion was spinning. Or running. And if he wasn't moving, he was at least making a loud noise. At one point, when I was trying to soothe a crying baby (he'd fallen down and was not pleased about it) I turned to L.D. and said "Would you please stop being so loud." "But I want to be loud." he deadpanned. I had nothing to say to that and he went back to whacking a train track against the table leg. Anyhow, in this particular picture he'd just come in from outdoors with a lovely pile of sticks to play with. First he was holding them up to his head as antlers, which was adorable, but when I tried to take a picture he would have none of it. Just wanted to spin from then on, trailing twigs and bark bits everywhere. Which I spent the rest of the day fishing out of the Baby's mouth.
The Baby was much calmer, and happy to sit and read a book. I love this face he gets. I call it his 'mulling things over' face. We also refer to it as 'little old man mouth'.
This is the face he gets when he realizes you've got a camera in your hands and is determined to get it. The "I'm comin' for you" face.
And of course, there's always a toothy grin. (note L.D. continuing to spin in the background)
Yep. He can totally climb up on the little child-sized chairs himself. So great to see him accomplishing things, and yet, now I have to put away all those cute little death-traps. We have at least four of them, and the doll bed and the ottoman might have to go as well.
Pretty pleased with himself about it as you can see. Oh, and what I don't have pictures of is that he totally fell off that chair. Don't worry, I lunged and caught him; it was a slow fall. He was scared though and cried a bit, but that did not deter him from trying to climb right back up on that chair again. As my friend Laura says, "so much for a self-preservation impulse."
And on a completely unrelated note (except that it is about the kids being cute) today the Little Dude was improvising a song, which went like this:
"ooooh, at night, when peole are tucked safely in their beds when the ducks and the sloths come out...."
Awesome.
LOVE the pictures, Especially the last one of the baby, it melts my heart!!!! and I have to say that LD is a born song writer! I think I may have to borrow those lyrics someday, absolutely brilliant!!
hugs to all of you, and big kisses for the boys from their auntie :)
