I think it's the fact that they start to learn things from someone other than us. We get so used to being THE source of information that to see them having put together something on their own makes you suddenly realize that they are an individual person, not some extension of yourself, if that makes any sense. It's happy and sad al at the same time.

Yeah, I'm coming to see the benefit of not being their only teacher. and you're totally right, their independence, and going out in the world is exciting and hard at the same time.
